| SONICWALL Wireless October 15, 2003 Award-Winning Wireless Security Appliance Now Offers Intrusion Detection/Prevention and Bridging Capabilities SonicWALL will issue a press release on Wednesday October 15th announcing exciting new features for the SOHO TZW that underscore SonicWALL's commitment to providing the most secure mobility solutions in the market. Supplementing the IPSec secured wireless capabilities of the SOHO TZW, SonicOS 2.0 now provides further security features, such as detecting and protecting against rogue access points, disassociation attacks, and association flood attacks. In addition, the new SOHO TZW extends greater support for growing networks, offering secure wireless bridging to permit the simple and secure addition of new buildings and employees to a wireless network. The following features will be available in SonicOS 2.0 for the SOHO TZW. Wireless Intrusion Detection Services Protect your wireless network from a new breed of wireless threats with SonicWALL Wireless Intrusion Detection Services. Intrusion detection and prevention is provided for three pervasive threats: rogue access points, disassociation attacks, and association flood attacks. Supplement the IPSec wireless security and comprehensive logging built-in to the SOHO TZW with this exciting new capability. IPSec Secure Wireless Bridging This innovative wireless solution addresses a common problem faced by growing networks: How do I easily and securely expand my network and add new employees? The answer: extend the corporate network and add new offices or workers in a campus environment using IPSec-secured wireless bridging. As long as two buildings are within WiFi range of each other, it is now possible to utilize a pair of SOHO TZWs to create a secure wireless bridge to link two wired networks. And if your distance requirements exceed the reach of the SOHO TZWs industry-leading integrated long range radio, you can replace the provided antennas with an external high gain antenna for bridging over even greater distances. Wireless Guest Services Enhancements SonicOS 2.0 provides several key benefits for administration of the SOHO TZW Wireless Guest Service Hotspot capability. Broader and more granular access controls have been added for increased hotspot application flexibility. These new features enable such applications as business advertising in lobbies, an on-line menu for a café, or even on-line posting of schedules or services in a hotel. Through the innovative Dynamic Address Translation feature, a wider variety of PC configurations are allowed to access the Internet- whether the user's computer is set for DHCP or a static IP address, virtually eliminating hotspot user configuration complications. Finally, automation has been provided for creating new guest accounts and deleting expired guest accounts, making administration of the hotspot simple. Enhanced Wireless Printer and PDA Support It is now possible to support a mix of IPSec and alternative wireless encryption standards on the SOHO TZW network. Devices such as PDAs and wireless printers often cannot use IPSec, providing only support for WEP encryption. Now the SOHO TZW can simultaneously provide RC4- based encryption to less fully-featured wireless devices, while still offering uncompromised IPSec support to wireless laptop, tablet, and desktop users. The new SonicOS 2.0 Standard firmware will be available to any SonicWALL SOHO TZW owner with a valid 8x5 or 24x7 support contract. |
